OCASA PARTICIPATION PROGRAM

 Children eligible to participate with OCASA in Fall 2008, and/or Spring 2009 must turn 3 by July 31, 2008.

 

Youth sports leagues cannot exist without assistance from parents, and the Ohio County Area Youth Soccer Association is no exception. OCASA ask that parents participate in the operation of the League. There are many jobs that need to be done. Some require very little time, others a substantial commitment.

We've listed below a summary opportunities.  Some are not available at this time. Check our website for current volunteer job listings. Please mark your child's registration form with the code next to the job you would be willing to do.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. ARE REGISTRATION FEES REFUNDABLE?

A. If your child is not assigned to a team, your fee is refundable. Otherwise, no refunds are given.

Q. DO I HAVE TO REGISTER MY CHILD FOR SPRING IF HE/SHE PLAYED IN THE FALL?

A. Yes, your registration for the Fall does not cover both the Fall and Spring season.

Q. CAN I REGISTER MY CHILD AFTER THE DEADLINE HAS PAST?

A. Yes however, you will be assessed a $10 LATE FEE and your child will be placed on a wait list.

Q. CAN I MAKE A REQUEST FOR MY CHILD?

A. A request to play with a friend will not be considered. No request chains will be honored. No requests for a coach or a team will be honored.

Q. HOW ARE THE TEAMS FORMED?

A. The Team Formation Policy is located in the OCASA website in the "Forms" section. The OCASA web site is www.ohiocountysoccer.net

Q. CAN MY CHILD PLAY IN THE NEXT HIGHER AGE GROUP?

A. Move-up of under age players will not be permitted except on the written request of a parent or guardian. All players moving up to the next age group must be placed in an "open" draw and not moved up as a team.

Q. WHEN ARE THE GAMES SCHEDULED?

A. Games are scheduled to be played on Saturdays, some Tuesday and Thursday evenings and occasionally on Sunday afternoon. In the Fall season, games are played during the months of September and October and Spring, games are played the last weekend of March through May.

Q. WHEN DO PRACTICES BEGIN?

A. Practices should begin in August for the Fall season and in March for the Spring season.


Team Formation Policy

Kentucky Youth Soccer Association (KYSA) requires that the team formation process be random. Therefore, the Ohio County Area Soccer Association shall use the following guidelines when forming teams:

For Age Groups

Children eligible to participate with

OCASA in Fall 2008, and/or Spring 2009

 must turn 3 by July 31, 2008.

·         Players moving up to a new Age Group category shall be placed on a team in the new Age Group based on OCASA team formation policy.

·         Players will be automatically moved up to the next Age Group on the basis of birth year only. Move-up of under age players will not be permitted except on the written request of a parent or guardian. All players moving up to the next age group must be placed in an "open" draw and not moved up as a team.

·         Single birth-year teams will not be formed. Procedures shall be taken to ensure that no more than two-thirds (2/3) of the players assigned to a team have the same birth-year.

·         Children of the head coach and not more than one (1) assistant coach may be assigned to that coach's team.

·         Siblings playing in the same Age Group will be assigned to the same team unless OCASA is otherwise notified.

·         No requests for a coach or a team will be honored.

·         No request chains will be honored. All requests must be in writing and sent to: OCASA, PO BOX 337, HARTFORD KY  42347

·         All decisions in team formation shall be made at the discretion of the Team Formation Committees and/or the OCASA Board.

·         Late registrants shall be placed on teams with available openings and if no opening is available they shall be placed on a waiting list.

·         The Board's first priority is to ensure that the children enjoy playing the game of soccer.
